Mötley Crüe's set at Truist Stadium for the opening night of the much-anticipated Stadium Tour demonstrated that, even with two years of planning under the four acts’ collective belts, some things are beyond anyone’s control.
Enter Def Leppard, who took the stage to close out the first night of the much-anticipated, long-delayed tour just as the skies decided to opened up. But while the band battled rain throughout their performance, they nevertheless delivered, as always, a masterful, rock-solid and hits-packed show.
Opening with two brand-new songs – “Take What You Want” and “Fire It Up” from the just-released Diamond Star Halos, the band then laid out three ‘80s classics, “Animal,” “Foolin’ ” and “Armageddon It,” after which they shifted with ease between various eras of their long career. They wrapped the whole wet and wild night up with a trifecta of rock classics: “Pour Some Sugar on Me,” “Rock of Ages” and “Photograph.”
