Listen to anthemic new Megadeth song, 'Soldier On!'

'It will be hard in the beginning, but you have got to live for yourself to be worth a damn to anyone else,' Dave Mustaine says about the lyrics

The run-up to the release of Megadeth’s long-awaited new album, The Sick, the Dying… And the Dead!, continues with the release of the third single from the effort, the mid-tempo rager, “Soldier On!”

You can check it out above.

Megadeth leader Dave Mustaine recently spoke about the track, explaining the lyrics as "Coming to the realization that you need to walk away from a relationship that's very toxic, and how hard it can be to start down that road. But you know you need to, and just taking that first step is the hardest part. Whatever your leaving does to them, you have to block that part out, stay the course and do what's right for you. It will be hard in the beginning, but you have got to live for yourself to be worth a damn to anyone else. You've got to Soldier On!"

“Soldier On!” follows the release of two earlier singles, “We’ll Be Back” and the Ice-T-assisted “Night Stalkers.” The Sick, the Dying... And the Dead!, meanwhile, comes on the heels of Dave Mustaine's battle with throat cancer and, more recently, the ouster of original bassist David Ellefson. It’s also their first record in six years, since 2016’s Dystopia.

The album was produced by Dave Mustaine and Chris Rakestraw and recorded at Mustaine's home studio in Nashville, Tennessee. Alongside guitarist Kiko Loureiro and drummer Dirk Verbeuren, the band was rounded out in the studio by bassist Steve DiGiorgio, who stepped in to replace Ellefson. The bassist role has now been permanently filled by Megadeth alumnus James LoMenzo.

The Sick, the Dying... And the Dead! is due out September 2. You can preorder the record in various formats now from our shop.
