'Maybe he'd lost his phone': Ozzy Osbourne reached out to Jimmy Page to guest on new album and never heard back

'I thought getting Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page meant having the greatest guitarists on the planet," the Ozzman says

From Jeff Beck, Tony Iommi and Eric Clapton to Duff McKagan, Josh Homme and Mike McCready, Ozzy  Osbourne’s forthcoming album, Patient Number 9, doesn’t lack for major musician star power.

But there’s one additional guitar icon that Ozzy tried and unfortunately did not succeed in bringing on board the project: Led Zeppelin legend Jimmy Page.

In a new interview with Metal Hammer, Ozzy said that he reached out to Page to record a guest solo, but never received a response.

"I don't even know if he plays any more, but I thought getting Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page meant having the greatest guitarists on the planet," Osbourne said. "But I never heard from him. Maybe he'd lost his phone or something."

Fortunately, there’s plenty of star-powered goodness to be found on the new record. Patient Number 9 is due out September 9. You can grab it on 2LP or cassette from the Metal Edge shop now.
