Watch Vinnie Vincent, Ace Frehley and Bruce Kulick unite to play Kiss classics at Creatures Fest

The Nashville gig marked the first-ever time the three former Kiss men have played together

This weekend’s Creatures Fest event in Nashville was hotly anticipated, and for no reason more so than for the promise of former Kiss guitarist Vinnie Vincent playing a rare full electric set. And Vincent, it seems, didn’t disappoint, appearing onstage Saturday night in full “Ankh Warrior” makeup atop a reproduction of the tank from Kiss’ Creatures of the Night tour, and kicking things off with a full 15 minutes of instrumental shred.

He was then joined later in the set by former Kiss axemen Bruce Kulick, for “War Machine,” and the Spaceman himself, Ace Frehley, for “Deuce” and, again with Kulick, “Cold Gin.” Also appearing was vocalist Shane Smith, who joined Vincent for a run-through of the Creatures classic, “I Love It Loud.”

While the 45-minute show wasn’t without its technical glitches – in particular with the backing drum track – it was nevertheless the most Vinnie, and also the most electrified Vinnie, the Kiss faithful have received in decades. Add in Kulick and Frehley, and you have an event that, if flawed, was still pretty fantastic.
